Agencies publish new WEEE protocols
The Agencies have published a new WEEE Evidence and National WEEE Protocols Guidance that provides chapter and verse on how evidence should be produced and issued in relation to WEEE delivered to AATFs and AEs.
It explains how the evidence system works, the records that need to be kept, how to account for batteries in WEEE and what percentages should be applied to mixed WEEE to calculate the amount of evidence that can be issued for each category.
The individual category percentages have not changed a huge amount in the new protocols, but the amount of non-WEEE related to contamination has dropped considerably - 6% down from 12.1%. There has for some time, been concern amongst schemes on the amount of potential evidence that was being lost under the old protocol and this should go some way towards satisfying those concerns.
