The best thing that can happen to food is that it is eaten and enjoyed.
However, some food waste is inevitable and so a simple, environmentally friendly, cost-effective solution is needed. After all egg shells and tea bags are never going to be on anyone’s menu!
At Greenzone we are dedicated to the collection and disposal of food waste by Anaerobic Digestion (AD) which uses micro-organisms to break down organic matter into a valuable fertilizer. As it breaks down it also gives off ‘bio-gas’ that is collected and sued to generate electricity and heat.
AD is therefore ideal for any business that produces food waste including restaurants, hotels, food production facilities and supermarkets. As an independent recycling and waste management company, we work in partnership with AD Plants to ensure that:
- As little of your waste as possible is sent to landfill
- Your waste is taken to the nearest AD Plant to ensure the lowest possible carbon emissions
- We use the most cost effective facility for the recycling of your waste
Listed below are examples of some of the waste that can and cannot be recycled in an AD Plant:
| Yes | No | |
|---|---|---|
| Meat and Fish Fruit and vegetable peelings Egg shells Tea bags and coffee Left-over cooked food Stale bread Cereals Dairy products Biodegradable food packaging |
Any household waste Meat bones Cardboard or packaging Tins Cans Glass Pet waste Soil or rubble |
As well as AD Plants, we also use Materials Reclamation Plants and Composting Facilities throughout the UK.
