We work with a network of Anaerobic Digestion Plants or Facilities as well as Materials Reclamation Plants and Composting Facilities to ensure your waste is recycled rather than sent to landfill whenever possible.

Anaerobic Digestion Plants, also known as AD Plants, use a completely natural yet complex anaerobic process which involves the recycling of food waste.

Any packaging is removed, pig manure is added to the waste and the mixture is then pasteurised at 70°C for one hour. A fermentation process leads to the production of organic fertiliser, anaerobic sludge and biogas. The biogas produced is then used to generate heat and electricity for the plant with any surplus electricity being sold. Nothing is wasted.

AD Plants are therefore ideal for any business that ‘produces’ food waste including restaurants, hotels, food production facilities and supermarkets. Below we have listed examples of the waste that can be recycled in an AD Plant. This list is indicative only as different AD Plants may take different wastes.

• As little of your waste as possible is sent to landfill
• Your waste is taken to the nearest AD Plant to ensure the lowest possible carbon emissions.
• We use the most cost effective facility for recycling of your waste.

New AD Plants are being commissioned on a regular basis and as these plants become ready, we will start to work with them.
